Improve the shape, appearance, structure of your teeth

A "cap" that fits over a tooth, dental crowns not only help to strengthen damaged teeth, they also work to help improve the shape, appearance, structure and alignment. Crowns can also be placed on top of a dental implant to provide a tooth-like structure that simulates the function and appearance of a natural tooth.

Dr. Marra and Dr. Truszkowski may recommend dental crowns for patients needing to:

  • Repair a fractured tooth
  • Protect a cracked tooth from breaking
  • Cover a dental implant
  • Cover a discolored or misshapen tooth
  • Replace a large filling
  • Attach a dental bridge

Placing a Beaverton Dental Crown

Prior to placing a crown, Dr. Marra and Dr. Truszkowski must first prepare a patient's existing tooth to ensure a secure fit. Part of the existing tooth structure may need to be removed in order to make room for the crown.

Once the tooth has been prepared, our dentists will take an impression to use as an exact mold for the crown. For patients having a porcelain crown placed, our dentists will color-shade their crown to ensure it fits seamlessly into the natural complexion of their smile.

Using this impression, a custom crown will be created in a lab using the highest quality materials. Once the permanent crown is ready, our dentists will place the crown into position to help restore and revitalize a patient's smile.

When properly cared for through daily oral hygiene - such as brushing and flossing - a dental crown can last for a lifetime.
